Comments from a friend's dad

on stem cell research that touched a recent hot issue in the last half... and I quote,
"With the recent death of Terri Shriver, comatos for fifteen years, our level of consciousness on this issue has been raised. Even though the judicial system supported her husband's wishes to let her die, many Christians around the world supported her parent's position that she should have the feeding tube reinserted. The argument presented in the paper may statisfy the medical community and the judical system, but I am not convinced it is morally right in God's eyes. I am not satisfied it is morally wrong either. Perhaps in time we will learn how to make non-viable embryos and or blastocysts viable.

God permits us to take human life in time of war and in the execution of justice. He instructs us to select judges to make wise decisions in disputes between people of differing opinion. In that regard, we should employ the legislative system to write and pass the laws which a majority of us can accept. We should make full use of the judicial system to give full voice to those who differ with the majority on a case by case basis. While these institutions govern us imperfectly, they are the best we have. Let science and medicine continue to explore and discover truth in this matter and let religions continue to preach God's Word and debate the subject. Let each of us make up our own minds and seek to do what is right in God's eyes as we honestly discern it with a clear conscience. God loves diversity and sets challenges like this before us to see what we will do. We should not expect simple answers to complex questions. May God bless each of you as you seek Him with all your heart, soul, mind, and strength. As the author reminds us, remember to love one another as we go through the adventure of life."
