'Twas the week before Christmas
and all through the school
the kids were all crazy
breaking every rule.
The teachers were testy
And grouchy and tired.
They hoped they would make it
Without getting fired.
The rooms were all decked out
In green and in red.
The children weren't listening
To a word that was said.
Then up pops Johnny
Or Susie or Brad
And announces that Santa
Is only your Dad.
So the children start crying
And some of them pout.
Pretty soon you've got
The whole class in time out.
With only 5 days left
Of school till they go,
We kneel in the lounge
And all pray for snow.
At the end of each day,
We jump in our cars;
Some head for the house,
Some head for the bars.
Then it's off to the mall
If time will allow;
Always out shopping
For that darn secret pal.
But on the 23rd,
As the cars roll out of sight.
We'll turn to each other
And gesture "All right!"
Now the poem's almost over,
The end is in sight.
Merry Christmas to all
And to all a good night!
