have a good year

I don't know about you but, I'm not particularly 'happy' or 'excited' about new year. Frankly, it takes a lot of courage to face the unknown. I like the french way of saying happy new year,  Bonne Année. It means literally, Good Year.

 

the Americans say Happy New Year, Merry Xmas, or Happy holiday in general.. the 'happiness' seems very surfacey.

the French says, good year, good holiday / festivals..  it's a wish / hope of something good.
